Exploring the value of Energy Flexibility Services for affordable housing organisations with Emrgnt and Lyv

Following a competition launched earlier this year to foster smart energy innovation, the UK housing provider Places for People have selected Emrgnt and Lyv to proceed to the next stage – a feasibility study of advanced energy services starting early 2019. Set up as an early stage design study, the goal is to identify the value and practical considerations for setting up advanced energy services in the affordable housing market. The DREEAM demonstration site Padiham will serve as a case study.
More than 10 companies showed interest in the pilot, but Emrgnt and Lyv, two recognised innovation leaders, were ultimately chosen. Lyv is a Dutch start-up with strong industrial ties that has promising new approaches to both virtual power plant and demand response.
These services will unlock new revenue streams for Places for People, enhancing their return on energy efficiency investments. Bax & Company has supported the process, identifying potential service providers and supporting the matchmaking process. More information will be published once the feasibility studies have taken place.
